Pittsburgh Pirates Ticket Dating Question
1 Attachment(s)
Any longtime Pirates collectors and/or someone who attended games back in the 1950's & 1960s familiar with the dating of Pittsburgh Pirates General Admission tickets from that era?
I have been told that this ticket example I posted is from a 10/2/1960 game. first digit = last number of year (0) second digit(s) = month (10) third digit(s) = date of game (02) I liken it to other teams that printed General Admission tickets with the just the game number on them and the year and this is the way the Pirates did it back then. There is a smaller 4-digit group of numbers on this ticket which are from the ticket printing sequence I'm guessing so these larger numbers have to represent something other then just being random numbers. Any other insight would be appreciated. Thanks! |

Hi Dewey, I just purchased a ticket from Lenny Sterran. I would consider him to be an expert on such topics. Pasted below is his description of this general admission stub which is consistent with yours.
"The "1707" on the stub means "1" for 1971 and "707" is July 7th.* Also the $1.90 price at the top is from the 1970's.* Dan Galbreath owner on back." |
