Trivia with a T205 Prize
Haven't done a give-away in a long time. There will be a prize for EVERY different correct answer in the next 24 hours (limit one answer per person)
I can only think of one Major League player who has 200 more Home Runs than Doubles for his career. Can you name one? |
Dave Kingman?

Harmon Killebrew - I'm going with big slow sluggers who wouldn't leg out a bunch of doubles

Fun follow-up for bragging rights only: What player whose career doubles outpace his career home runs, has the most home runs?
Still accepting answers to the original question for prizes, but it's easier than I was thinking it would be to just look it up. :P |

Babe Ruth is an easy one
714 HRs ----- 506 doubles |
Sosa and Ruth
Sammy Sosa and Babe Ruth.
I cheated and went to the ESPN Career Stats page. |

Oh come on, Dickerson put up a higher OPS+ in half a season last year than Pujols has in the last 7 years. Give the guy his due!
|
OPS plus is a percentage type statistic that is EASIER to put up a higher number over a lesser amount of plate appearances AND you picked a guy who has been pretty well washed up for the last 8 years to compare CD to lol. But you still get a prize :P
|
Oh honorable mention to Mickey Mantle who shockingly only came up a few Home runs short (or a few doubles too many) to qualify!
|
.
|
Miguel Cabrera has 100 more 2b's than Hr's ( 577 vs 477 )

Special shout out for my hometown hero George Brett who is the ONLY HoFR with at least 600 doubles, 100 triples, 300 homers, and 200 stolen bases. 3000+ hits to boot and +.300 lifetime hitter AND never struck out more than 75 times in a season ( career with more walks than strikeouts ). To add, batting titles in 3 different decades.
Far cry from what we see ball players doing today. |
Rickey Henderson, right behind George Brett in that department
297 HRs vs 510 doubles |
guess
Frank Howard?
|
I'm pretty sure that's all of them. What an amazing small group of players that achieved this difficult combination.
|
It's always tough to do trivia via computer because I just feel like everyone looks up the answers anyway...
|
Barry Bonds
|
I try and pick things that are harder to look up. This sounded good until I realized you could just go to the all time home run chart and work your way down.
|
On the opposite end Mr Ty Cobb had 675 more doubles than HRs. My all time favorite player had 460 more doubles than HRs. Just shows how overrated HRs are.:D
