1892 New Orleans Pelicans Team Cabinet ID's
1 Attachment(s)
I picked up this Pelicans team cabinet card. The roster includes Count Campau, Billy Crowell, and Emmett Seery of n172 fame. I think I see Seery in the front row. Can anyone ID any of these players? Here's the roster and the photo from the AH. I will scan a higher resolution scan once I receive it.

Fantastic piece. If, in your research you come across a photo of Toby Hart (first team owner), please contact me. My g-g-grandfather was recruited by him and fought in his company during the siege of Vicksburg.

Pelicans' owner

Thanks, Scott, here's a Shorty Fuller cabinet that I bought about 7 years ago from Heritage. I looked in their archives and found a team cabinet and anonymous guy in a suit from the same studio and year 1887. They were in the same sale, but I did not win them... Could the man in the suit be the owner? The team cabinet has what I thought was the manager in the center. They have better pictures in their archive. Search "Souby" Rob... If I see anything more about the owner, I'll let you know.

cabinet info
Don, thanks very much for finding that article and directing me to it. The level of detailed analysis and research is top notch. It answered every possible question I had about the cabinet, and more. Apparently, they saw the auction listing, and went to work on their own.
The best part for me, is that they identified n172 subject, Billy Crowell, in the photo. My guess of Seery in the center front row was incorrect, but I had not seen Crowell. Great news...Rob |
You're welcome, Rob. Here is some info on the 1887 Pelicans.
