Sounds great if you are a sketchy POS, I will just pay my taxes. I actually like the services they provide.

Let’s start a new thread about the cheapness of some on this board

Well RTA post whatever you want.:)

State sales tax in Illinois is 6.25%. I'm no accountant, but I do not recommend this strategy. There are a few states that come to mind that would seem to be better options.

The OP is just a PBM trolling. It is what he likes to do, supposedly he is a nice guy in person.

Since last July, when the taxes went into effect, we have all complained and felt the sting. The original poster simply offered a potential loophole/solution. This is what tax attorneys and accountants do for their clients - find loopholes.

There is no need to attack and call him names. If you think it is a bad idea, then just move on and don't use the strategy.

We have all failed to pay taxes on our card purchases at some point. I'm sure the attackers have made cash purchases and/or made sales at shows and not paid taxes on them.

Thank you for satisfying all the elements of tax fraud in as little space as possible.

Call me when the IRS agents come to your door.

pokerplyr80 01-18-2020 10:19 PM

Why would IRS agents care about state sales tax avoidance?

There seems to be no shortage of misinformation in this thread. Although I doubt anyone is taking it very seriously.

Maybe if he attacked someone else with his lies. Last time this exact same thing happened from the same person Leon told me "to bad" and let him continue to attack me with lies.

How about I post a copy of my ID and you do the same Ben ?
Does anyone want to see my ID to see my name is Michael James Durrett?
Does anyone want to see Ben North's ID ?

I am new here and new to cards. However I was told by MANY people that "Ben North" is a know-it-all who rudely posts things....

My guess is he got on here 5,000+ posts ago when moderator did not care if people used there real name. Now things are different and you are still operating under your fake name.

I am hereby calling you out. At the very least moderator should make you privately prove to him your real name. Right?

Just tell me you like the idea Ben and I post my ID in a heartbeat.

LOL, so Matthew you have a friend with the name you are using on here.

Fred 01-19-2020 11:28 AM

I don't mind paying my fair share of taxes. One thing that really bothers me is that as collectibles, these cards can be sold again and again which means that multiple people can pay taxes on the same piece of cardboard. I understand taxing "new" (unused) items, but collectibles? Can someone rationalize that for me?

Gusturd 01-19-2020 11:41 AM

I can't. It seems like collectibles are collateral damage here. But what do the states care...It's more money for them. Reading this thread it's comical how many people seem joyous about being overtaxed. Tax on shipping? Come on.

JollyElm 01-19-2020 02:56 PM

I just used my ebay bucks, and virtually every cent of it went to cover the taxes of the card I bought. So disappointing. Instead of getting a nice discount on a pick-up, it basically just got me back to where I would've been if I paid full retail in a tax-free state. And adding to the dismay, when was the last time ebay offered a 15% coupon code?? It's a suckfest out there.

Same with a used car or boat. The rationalization is simple: politicians exist to spend your money.

Poor comparison. Cars and boats are regulated by the government. Cards, forks, socks, knick knacks, t-shirts, posters and most of the things people sell on ebay, are not.

Maybe we should be required to get a license and register our baseball cards and underwear too?

OriolesHOF 01-19-2020 04:26 PM

Just move to tax friendly Delaware. No tax consequence, problem solved!

Johnny630 01-19-2020 04:28 PM

Btw - unless this has been discussed before and I missed it: this seems to be the actual function of the PWCC vault. No sales taxes in Oregon.

Absolutely! Underwear should be taxed, regulated, and licensed.

I figure from all the stuff I've bought and sold tax free on E-Bay since I started in 1997 I'm well ahead of the game.. No problem here..

If ones underwear is considered lethal, would a concealed carry permit be required?
