Duke Slater Autograph Question

Just wondering, what would a Duke Slater signed 3x5 card be worth at this point? My dad's friend has one and is contemplating selling it. I only see one example on the net at around 5K but don't know how accurate that is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tony

I’ve been fortunate enough to own several examples over the years. Duke Slater’s autograph has been highly sought after amongst Iowa and college football autograph collectors for years; well before his recent (and long overdue) induction into the Pro FBHOF. They typically sold for around $2500, more to hardcore Iowa collectors. I anticipate an initial spike in value ($5k is likely), followed by a handful hitting the open market to capitalize.

My personal opinion: He isn’t as rare as some may think. He willingly signed autographs throughout his life until his passing in 1966 at age 67. Not uncommon to hear recent stories of finding his signature on banquet programs or books that collectors paid under $100 for.

I'm curious to hear other thoughts on Duke Slater autographs. The only one to sell at auction was slightly smeared and sold for $5000 in 2017 (Huggins). Currently he is the most expensive football signature to authenticate through PSA/DNA ($300).

Without any recent comps and his overdue induction into the Pro HOF it is clearly a seller's market.

This one might be affordable....

Even throughout Covid, I believe he is still alive and kicking (and signing for free!)
