T206 Sovereign 460 Series

Hi, although I don't post often I do look at most of the posts. As with many, it is amazing how much you can learn and I marvel at the amount of knowledge others have.

I have been a T206 collector focused on low to mid-grade PSA graded portraits regardless of back. As you might expect, most of my backs are Piedmont and Sweet Caporal.

I am starting to dabble in some back subsets (action poses), namely Polar Bear so far But, I am curious about the Sovereign 460 series, of which I think there are about 50 different fronts (correct me if I am wrong). I know these are scarce from reading articles, etc. Just curious if anyone on this site has completed this subset or come close.

52 to the set according to www.t206resource.com I am supposedly collecting this set, but I would guess I have about 8-10. I have found them easier than AB460 and Cycle460, but they are pretty uncommon. Unlike AB and Cycle, the premium is usually not big, which is nice. I'm sure a number of board members have assembled all 52 and can chime in with more info...

Hi Dale

The regular 46 subjects in the 460 Series are not that difficult with a SOVEREIGN 460 backs.

It's the 6 super-prints, shown here, with SOVEREIGN 460 backs that are very tough to find.
Especially the red Cobb. Check-out this link.... T206 Reference if you'd like more information on T206's.

Replying to your last question.....yes, I have completed an all - SOVEREIGN set (408 cards).

Ted, it's amazing that you put together every Sovereign card. The 150 series seems pretty difficult. I doubt many, if any, have done the whole Sov set like you did. With only 52 in the 460 series, it seems like something that can be done with some time by collectors that want to try it.

I know the Geyers, Devores, and Crandalls(the red hindu group, I've forgotten what they are called, but recognize the subjects in the group), are easy in SOV460 and the pop reports show that also, around 30 graded each. I did not know the super prints were so scarce. Only 3 Evers SOV460 on psa, wow.

I have 50 out of the 52 possible Sovereign 460's. I'm missing Ty Cobb Red Background and Frank Chance Yellow Portrait. For the 150 Series, I have 100 different out of the 150 possible cards. I'd love to add more to my set but prices have been crazy lately.

Hi Rob

The 6 super-prints were definitely short-printed. I will tell you this, besides the 6 super-prints with SOV 460 backs, acquiring the 402 cards of the all - SOVEREIGN set
were not as tough as you would think. The toughest part of this adventure was figuring out the SOVEREIGN no-prints. There are exactly 70 no-prints, and I had to do
a lot of researching in order to know that I was not going on a "wild-goose" chase trying to track down cards that did not exist. After all there were no published check-
lists for me to go by. It was quite a challenge, but it was a lot of fun.

Look, I envy you for having 67 cards in you 1910 COUPON set. A tremendous accomplishment that I will never be able to achieve. So, why don't you try for a complete
SOVEREIGN set.

Take care,

TED Z

Ted, thanks to you and many other board members for getting me to 67/68 for Coupon 1. I look at it as a group effort now. I am working on Sov460, AB no frames 350 and 460 and Cycle 460, but I have a long way to go on those.

Ron, that's awesome, 50/52 and 100/150 on SOV460 and SOV150.

Peter, great auction. I hope to win a few. Rob

David Hall's Sovereign 460 Red Cobb is way out of my reach. Might be a popcorn night for me too. Not sure what happened to his Frank Chance Yellow/Pink Portrait. I need that one but not that bad. I just can't get past those stains. Not sure how that didn't get an MK qualifier. It looks like a 2 otherwise. The rest I can pass on since I'm not a condition freak and have most anyways.
