OT: eBay Sales Tax on International Orders?
 

I just won a bunch of vintage soccer cards from Italy and eBay is charging me a sales tax of 29 Euros!

This is the first time I have noticed the sales tax on any of my eBay fees and I have a few questions:

1) Does anyone know if eBay should charge sales tax on international orders? Who exactly is receiving this tax they collect from me? (my state, the Italian government, eBay pockets it)

2) Is this sales tax state dependent? So depending on which state I am in would I either see it or not?

3) If eBay should not be collecting this sales tax, how do I get it waived?

4) Is there anything I can do in the future to avoid this sales tax on my eBay purchases?

Was it your states sales tax which may be like Massachusetts where it's a sales and use tax? Or was it Italys VAT, which is nearly the same thing as sales tax(and 22% for most items)
