"New" Member Introduction

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to send a quick post (my first one actually) to introduce myself and to thank a couple of members.

My name is Tim and I am a lifelong Dodgers fan (born in the 60s). I have been collecting baseball cards for most of my life, but took a break for a number of years. Last year, I started collecting modern Dodgers players and fell back in love with the hobby.

Recently, I decided to start collecting pre-war cards and found myself here. I plan to focus on Brooklyn pre-war cards as well as Dodgers after their move to LA.

I used to be a member on these forums and a couple of weeks ago when I went to sign in, was unable. I emailed Leon and he couldn't have been nicer. He explained the reason and set me up. So here I am. A big thank you to Leon.

I am interested in collecting T205, T206, and 1933 Goudey cards. I sent a message to Jason after seeing one of his posts regarding T205s. He sent me a very detailed email and was very responsive and helpful. Thank you Jason.

I don't typically post (maybe I will in the future), but I take full advantage of learning from reading from all of you. Thank you.

I have yet to purchase my first pre-war card, but i am on the lookout. I am in no rush and plan on doing all three of the Brooklyn team sets I mentioned above, simultaneously.

Wish me luck.

Tim

Welcome Tim!
I also don't post much but find myself checking the forums many times a day. Are you after graded or raw cards?
The Dodgers moved??

Welcome aboard Tim. My name is Tom and I am a lifelong Reds fan (born in the 60s). Why on earth anyone would be a Dodgers fan is beyond me. ;)

Lots of knowledgeable folks here - I've learned a lot and made a few deals along the way.

Good luck,

Tom

Exactly the reason I want to collect those brands and years. Beautiful.

Thanks,

Welcome Tim!

The boards are an INCREDIBLE irreplaceable wealth of information. I am doing a similar collection with my boys - except for the Pirates! Doing T206 trying to get a set where each player has a different advertising back - makes it a whole other level of challenge!!

Tim,

The good news for you is that Ruth, Young, Wagner, Johnson, Mathewson or a bunch of the other pre-war stars weren't Dodgers! :p

Have fun and as you will often read on this board - "buy the card, not the holder".

Welcome and Good Luck!

So true. Love all those guys, but when it comes to starting my collection, it’s nice to know I won’t have to pay for them.

Thanks for the advice.
