Help Please, 1949 Dodgers Ball, 27 Sigs, Any/Some/None Authentic?
Hi, I'm looking for thoughts, comments, opinions the Brooklyn Dodgers ball pictured. Based on research and names presented, I narrowed it to a 1949. I'm weighing yes or no to spend the $200 for authentication. Return on investment not a big issue as I bought this with 4 other balls, 2 of which were authenticated and sold, so I have my original cost plus back.
I know if this is 100% clubhouse it still has collectible value. Key names I can make out: Non-Spaulding panel: Jackie, Pee Wee (I think), Furillo, and can someone help is that Campanella below Branca? Spaulding panel: Hodges, Preacher Roe Sweet spot: Shotton Thanks for your time and response. |
Above pee wee is billy cox and Morrie Martin?
Yes I believe so.
First autograph in the first photo looks like Marv Rackley. He was traded to the Pirates on May 18, 1949 so the ball would have to have been signed prior to that.
third photo right in the middle is Rex Barney with Preacher Roe underneath him.
Next to last photo with Hodges on it has Erv Palica as the last name on that panal.
Ok, last one. I can't see it very well, but I believe the name under Hodges is coach Jake Pitler. Ok, I now have prep work for tomorrow's Turkey day. LOL
Thanks, I've made progress in identifying nearly all signatures, still trying to determine if any or some are authentic or all are clubhouse.
