I sent a pm, an email, etc... don’t know how to be clearer than that.

some people do send PMs without saying 'pm sent' |
Whatever. I know I’ll find a better deal elsewhere.

Im assuming he got a bunch of PM's rather quickly as it was a really good deal. Wouldve tried myself if I saw it earlier |

When I first came across the listing, I presumed it was a new listing because:
1. It was at the top of the thread. 2. I had not seen the listing before, and I check this 1950s thread frequently. 3. No one had posted a response in the thread that they were interested in the card. I thought I was the buyer of the card: 1. Upon coming across the listing, I promptly messaged the seller that I was interested in the card. 2. I posted a "pm sent" reply in the thread. I have seen this done MANY times on other sales items and this is an indication I am trying to lay claim to the card. The seller posted a fixed price on the card $545, so I saw no reason to "submit an offer". I could understand if the card was on auction, but it wasn't. The seller also instructed to contact them about scans or photos of the card before committing to buying. This I did. The seller responded to my message by sending me images of the card, then posting on the forum the card was sold. This gave me the impression I was the buyer of the card! After posting on the thread as well as sending a private message for contact information promptly after receiving the images, it was then I was informed I was NOT the buyer of the card. At no time before was I told there was another buyer for the card either through private message or forum postings. If the card was available to the "highest bidder", I was not informed. Everything that transpired as mentioned above gave me every indication I was the buyer of the card, not someone else. This is not the only copy of this card and I will eventually find my copy for my price. However, I will be far more careful in the future who I deal with. |
Really?
This is ridiculous. Wasn't planning to respond and bump this thread, but my integrity seems to have been questioned. Here's what happened:
3:51 - I post card 4:18 - Member A PMs asking for Pics 4:39 - Member B PMs asking for pics 5:19 - This guy PMs asking for pics "Please send pics! [email address] Thanks, Tom" 6:00-ish - I email pics to each in order of request 6:23 - Member B replies to my email with "I'll take it" 6:29 - I post card sold 7:11 - This guy PMs his mailing address Am I missing something?!? |
Chris
You contacted folks in the order they contacted you. I sell on here from time to time and do the same thing. I think it’s the best way to do it. I wonder if the person complaining could switch spots with the person who contacted you first about the card. Based upon his rant above I suspect he would be unhappy someone bought the card out from under him🤷🏿*♀️.
Just an opinion Chris is a good man and this type of crap steers people away from posting on the BST. |

I pretty much assumed thats exactly how it happened..but he said he will get the same card later for a better deal so not sure why he is complaining now anyway |
