What's the second name at the top of this Lajoie T206?

Referencing the Lajoie from this B/S/T thread:
http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=273517 Any idea what that second name is at the top? Do you agree that the second letter is an N? There are only these T206 with 5 characters and an N as the second letter: - Engle - Knabe - O'Neil None of those really seems to fit except for possibly O'NEIL, but there doesn't appear to be enough of a gap between the first and second letters for an apostrophe to fit there, and the team name also looks too short to be Minneapolis. Could it be a non-T206 card printed on the same sheet? Are there any known instances of this? |
That Lajoie is a 150-350 series pose so it can't be any of the players you mentioned. I think it's Lajoie at top as well. The team is pretty clearly Cleveland, so that's a good place to start. I think "LAJOIE" is just a little more condensed at the top than the bottom. The L,A,J seem to run into each other without any space between them.

Nice, thank you Luke. You're right. Mystery solved. I was overlooking the obvious.

Luke, You seem to know your stuff about T206's. I was just wondering whether you knew of some references which list all the T206 backs and which players might have that back. Thanks. |
Great eagle eye, Luke!
