Post your wrong back errors
4 Attachment(s)
I recently saw a 1948 leaf Paige with an Enos Slaughter back. I think three front-back errors are cool, but I don’t have many. Here are the only two I own: e92 Wagner Menagerie Gum back and a T206 Bernhard, brown Old Mill multi-strike/back with ghost (thanks Scott).
Let’s see some wrongly-backed cards. |
Perhaps the backs think that the fronts are wrong.;)

Not sure if this Walsh counts, but it's a cool card nonetheless.

They all count David! This thread is just an excuse to post, look at, and talk about cards!
K- great ghost image. Jamie, that’s a heck of a line-up. The Speaker, particularly, is awesome. |

These are by far the most favorite cards I own. There are not 2 cards in the hobby I would rather own. They have beautiful red borders like cards should have. They are also my 2 All Time favorite players on a wrong back pair.:)

E91 Bridwell
Very odd since the back is upside down AND it’s the wrong back. Bridwell was an E91-A and E91-B subject.....but the back is E91-C.
No NY Natl in group C. https://farm66.staticflickr.com/6553...b84c6846_c.jpg |
e78 Magee
2 Attachment(s)
Here's an e78 with an upside-down wrong front. It has a similar miscut back to DJ's Cy Young card above. I noticed SGC called his an e101 with a wrong back. They called this Magee an e102 with a wrong back.

Card #1 from my W517 master set and a fella named Ruth

Since e101 has a Young, and e102 does not, and DJ's card and my card appear to be from the same sheet, it seems these are e101 fronts with e78 backs. e101, e102, and e78 are all anonymous, but appear to be made by the same printer. e102 is sometimes said to be from 1908, e101 1909, and e78 1910. These wrong backs raise some questions about the years of release...Rob
I also would like to see some more players from this sheet. |

That E126 is a wet sheet transfer not a wrong back, but great card.
E78 was definitely a 1910 issue. The Berger-Jeffries card is strong proof since it shows Jeffries training for the 7/4/10 Johnson fight and in physical condition he did not achieve until the spring of 1910. http://photos.imageevent.com/exhibit...20jeffries.jpg |
Thanks for chiming in with that info, Adam. If we agree that e78 was produced in 1910, and the backs for Magee and Young are mistakes, what back, in 1910, did they mean to put on the cards?
I know there have been discussions about the release dates for all the different caramel issues, 1908,1909,1910. Is it now thought that they were released over a number of years? Rob Also, the e78 back has a similar, stair-step design to the e102, but Young is not in e102.... |
