E92 Hal Chase? If not...what?
2 Attachment(s)
Howdy all. So, my first post in this space is actually a request for info. I bought this card 48 years ago and was told it was a 1909 Nadja Caramel card. I did no further investigation until this past weekend, when i discovered it can't be because Nadja featured more than 50 different players (not the mere 25 referenced on this back) and none with this back.
Any ideas? Thank you! Attachment 363852Attachment 363853 Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk |
Looks like an e102 actually. Set of 25 cards. You can check this link here to learn a bit more about that set. You'll see that the back matches up exactly....

Yep, that's an E102. Part of the same "family" of sets as E92, using many of the same images, but with different backs and different checklists. In fact, the "E92" designation arguably encompasses several distinct sets with slightly different checklists. Others here know more of the details than I do.

Yup, E102, the set is marked and known as the "anonymous set of 25" as the actual printer/advertiser is unknown. However, the set actually consists of 29 cards. 4 players have (Miller, Schmidt, Wagner, and Doyle) have 2 different images in the set.
Here's an example of a card with the Nadja back. https://live.staticflickr.com/4403/3...577715c0_c.jpg |
Nice card. Like everyone else has mentioned, it is from the E102 set, due to its distinctive 'cascading' list of subjects on the back.
Besides this E102, this same image of Chase can be found in the following other sets: E92 Croft's Candy E92 Croft's Cocoa E92 Dockman E92 Nadja E101 E105 Mello Mint E106 American Caramel D303 General Baking T216 Kotton T216 Mino T216 Virgina Tango Eggs Brian |
Thank you all so much for the assistance. I plan to trade it for one or two T206 cards in a local shop, but i needed an approximate value. And the guy wouldn't consider it until we knew exactly what it was. Still not sure of a ballpark value after looking through some prices realized. I'd hang onto it, but...The Monster has a hold of me!

For value I'd say it's somewhere around $50-$75.

Watch out for the Monster, Mike. :)
On the subject of Nadja Caramel they were put out by Blanke Wenneker so could actually be called that too. But E102 Anonymous is the pose/back shown, as said. Here is a Chase - Tango from my prior collection. Neat and simple pose... http://luckeycards.com/pfunctangochase.jpg |
