What's your favorite Topps cartoon?
1 Attachment(s)
There were lots of great cartoons on Topps backs over the years, but I think my favorite is the one on Ron Kline's 1959 card, #265, that makes fun of him for being fat several years before the card was issued

Wow, I guess back then it was more " cute " then insulting !

While chasing my '59 set I came across the Don Rudolph card.
https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7FqCgOJIK...0/IMG_0003.jpg The cartoon notes that he is married to a 'professional dancer'. https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AEftsG_si...0/IMG_0007.jpg What it DOESN'T mention that his professional dancer wife was well-known Baltimore stripper Patti Waggin. I found a bunch of fun material on the lovely Ms Waggin while researching my blog post on the card. |

1979 Football Jim Langer :) Just what you want to encourage 12 year old boys to aspire to!

Not a humorous one, but the 1954 Dave Hoskins RC speaks to just how rough the early African American players had it trying to break through the color barrier.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d87fbb1894.jpg

Oh wow, I have that card and I don't think I ever looked that close at the back or noticed that cartoon. Thanks for posting it. |

I have the original art for the '64 topps Koufax card so it's always been my favorite, but that Don Rudolph card is now a close 2nd. :)

Great stuff guys. Makes me think I spend too much time looking at the front of my cards! Posting this so I don't show up to the party empty handed.

Mr Reese was a pallbearer for my wife’s grandfather, along with Ty Cobb, Casey Stengel, Taylor Spinks and Joe McCarthy
