1928 Fro Joy Babe Ruth Authenticity?

Hey all picked up a collection this weekend and stumbled upon a couple of 1928 Fro Joy Ruth's. I have done some research and read quite a few threads but am still on the fence if authentic or not. A lot of the older threads that had photos of real vs reprints the photos weren't able to be seen anymore. From what I have read you can't really be positive if real or not especially not having them in hand. Hoping to get some opinions from the forum if they are good or bad before i send to Beckett. Thank you!

Chris-- you should ask Leon to move this to pre war where there are likely to be more folks familiar with this offering

From the scans both look good...
Just like this one in my collection...It is now in a BVG 1 or 2 holder....

F-J's

Make sure you pay for expedited service w/ Beckett; if not be prepared for year+ turnaround.

Thank you all for the responses. Leon, I was hoping you would chime in with your opinion. I saw a lot of older posts you made about this issue and seem very knowledgable about them. I will send to Beckett with my fingers crossed!

From the pics, they are not obvious fakes, and the aging/toning looks okay. And most fakes are pretty obvious. Definitely worth sending to Beckett.

real...if interested in selling raw...pm me.

The inks are bleeding through from the front to the back and the square boxes on the back connect at the points(the fakes don't connect). These are good signs as to being authentic.

Chris, here's another legit example, which I hope is helpful to you:

These Fros are real I would bet my BigBeerBelly on it.
The little boxes have lines that are touching most black and white fakes are not this way. Def Real Deal nice grab!

Period

I am not sure if it is significant or not, but the OPs No. 1 card does not have a period on the front at the end of the description...?

that's observant!!!!!! not sure it's significant...seeing as these cards aren't terribly popular to start with due to the % of fakes out there.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but the pix are already posted here. Question.....what is up with the top of Babe Ruth's cap in the two cards above? Is that a wad of bubble gum stuck to the button?

It is a piece of bubble gum. The photographer for the set kindly asked Ruth not to chew gum while he was taking pix and Ruth kindly obliged by parking the wad of top of his cap.

Thanks, sir! I was pretty sure. I guess it was a common thing to do at one time.
