I haven't had any problems contacting ebay members using ebay and then asking them to message me here on Net 54.

As a bonus - I know that this has resulted in at least a handful of new board members.

eBay allows outside communication now, they'll just charge the seller if the item is taken down.

I don't think they allow it:

I think charging the seller is dangled as a punishment in case eBay thinks something is up.

I have noticed that once a transaction is completed on eBay - The orders screen now shows the buyers private email address. Not sure when that started happening. Probably around the same time as the "dangled" rule.
