Best day to go to the National
How does the Wednesday 4-8 pm “sneak peak” typically compare to the regular Thursday session for a National at Chicago?
Are there many vintage dealers who aren’t there on Wednesday but only show up for Thursday-Sunday? Or does Wednesday have basically everyone there who will be there on Thursday? Assuming someone who is interested in vintage (T205s) and not in modern, autographs, case breaks, or onsite grading, are there any major differences that would make it better to go on Wednesday than Thursday or vice versa, if you could only choose one of those days? More generally, what is your favorite day to go to the National, if you can only go on one day? |
I always make a point to attend on Wednesday. Worth it in my book.

In general, Thursday is good as the weekend crowd has yet to arrive.

Buying
For buying I find Friday and Saturday the best days.

Thursday
I would say that almost all the vintage dealers are there Wednesday but a few might not be. To me the biggest difference is that you have 7 or 8 hours on Thursday instead of 4.

For our group Tues (Early Dealer Setup) through Thursday are the best days and then Fri-Saturday are OK. Sunday is much rougher as many vintage people head home earlier.
But, if you are looking for more modern cards, swag from the corporates or the best of the rest at lower prices, then Saturday afternoon-Sunday are your best days. Rich |
I think it's different for many and depends on your plan. If your looking for an extremely rare card and the price is not an issue, then Wednesday so you don't miss out on the card. If you are looking for more common at a better price, then I'd say Sunday around noon and try making some offers on the cards. I don't think as many offers are accepted on Wednesday.

Unless you are lucky enuff to be in the building on Mon i would say Tue is the best day for adrenaline but sunday is 'buy' far the best day to purchase
