Topps Now 2017 WS G7 Base Relic /99

Hi all,

I just aquired a 2017 Topps Now George Springer 2017 World Series Game Used Base card used in innings 5-6 of Game 7. I'm a huge Astros fan and have been looking for one of these for a while but didn't want to and couldn't spend the $200+ prices people were asking for this card. I was able to snag one for $49 including shipping. What I'm curious to know is if I got a good deal and if this card could be an investment for the future? Like I said, I'm a big time fan but am curious if it will have value to other hobbyists. Thanks!

In general the Topps Now cards do no seem to be wise investments. Like your experience, I find them to always cost less in the secondary market than they cost direct. That's not good news in terms of investment.

After reading about them, I understand they might not hold their prices but as an Astros fan, to me this is an important card. There aren't a whole lot of opportunities to get a piece of the World Series, especially from Game 7. I'm sure I could sell it for a bit more. Did I overpay?

$49 doesn't seem to be a huge risk; especially if it is something that you enjoy.

I have no idea what the value is if you are trying to flip it though.

I love the Astros, sitting at home and watching them win it all was one of the best sporting moments I've had, my mom got me into baseball around 2004 so to be able to experience that with her was wonderful and the card reminds me of that. I have no idea of the value either, I've seen mid $80ish prices up to almost $300 with most of them being in the high range. I think the card is appealing and like that it has a game used base piece, with the MLB Authentication hologram so I know its legit. I'm sure if I wanted to sell it eventually, I could most likley at least break even.

The card also comes with the original box, case and papers, so that is a plus.

I collect what I like and don't worry about value, kills the enjoyment for me.

Would you sell all your cards for less than you paid?

I can't speak to whether or not it's a good investment, but you did get a good deal because the original issue price from Topps was $99.
