Does PSA regrade automatically if you go for a reholder?
I just got a T206 with a piedmont 350 back, but the holder simply says Piedmont. I'd like to get it changed to reflect the right back.
They missed obvious marks, which should change it from a 4 to a 4(MK). Do they regrade, especially if they missed something pretty obvious, or just change the label? |
On a reholder, they will not review the holder unless it has been tampered with or there is an egregious error in grading that they notice while doing the work. So they could either:
1) Leave it the same 2) Add the MK and reimburse you the difference between a 4 and a 2, as per their grade guarantee (that's probably presuming you bought it as a 4). 3) Erase the mark and reslab it as a 4. With the creased PSA 9, corner damaged PSA 9, and the folded back corner PSA 8, this becomes at least a possibility. 4) If you select Reholder and put a note saying "DON'T RESLAB UNLESS IT REMAINS A 4" and they will not reholder it otherwise. |
NO
A reholder and a review are two completely different services.

* Is the centering really indicative of a "7"? * This is an odd looking 1973 Topps Card. Maybe it's just my eyes that are going bad? |

I am more than a little weird and have a small collection of flip errors. I believe they fix those for free. I have seen much worse centering on PSA 7s of the 1969 Topps Clemente card. |
Data entry error on 1969 Clemente
In a case like this which is a data entry error i believe they redo it for free including shipping and to me that is more oc than a 7 should be. Do you have a peak can you measure its exact centering at worst point? Or it could have had the flip switched with the card above or below it in order did you check those certs was one a 1969 Clemente? I had this happen on at206 order about 6-7 years ago. They are human after all i don't get bent out of shape on those types of things. Far worse stuff to worry about.

Definitely looks better than 75-25 to me. Maybe you're thinking of Beckett's grading standards.

Wouldn't re-grade mean they had done some actual grading in the past?
|
BUT if you ask for a review, I believe they will reholder

I’ve seen scenarios where they “reviewed” without actually removing the card from holder. Case by case scenario I guess. |

All reviews and crossovers are done while the card is in the holder. If it meets the minimum grade requested, it gets cracked out and put in a new holder with new flip. It during the reholder they detect trimming, then they contact the card owner to figure out how to handle it. If it doesn't meet min grade but you want it reholdered anyways, you can request it on the submission form, but they are not obligated to do it.
Mechanical errors are not reviews, and PSA fixes them for free. |
I'll try to make this as short as possible.
I purchased a card that was described as "having dust in the flip." I contacted the seller and told him I would be sending it in to be reholdered and if there was any funny business I would be returning the card. Seller said no problem. I sent the card in on a reholder submission. PSA came back at me and said water had gotten in the slab, what did they want me to do? I explained the situation and said I'd just want it back so I could return it. They came back and said the slab had been tampered with and they could not return it as-is. It was no longer a PSA 10 and they wouldn't allow their brand to be shown in such a manner. We agreed that it would stay in its original slab but they would deface it. They drilled a hole through the flip portion of the slab and carved an 'X' in the card portion of it. Of course, the seller refused the return and I had to go through Paypal. PSA was very helpful and wrote out a letter on their stationary explaining the situation and I got my refund. It's my understanding that damage to a slab outside of the card area will get an easy reholder. Damage to the card portion of the slab will get a review and POSSIBLY a regrade if deemed necessary. From what I understand, regrades are rare. Arthur |
