Along with collecting original photos, transparencies and negatives of American Olympians I also try to acquire items related to official Olympic photographers. This has included vests, bibs, credentials, tickets and other related items. I was thrilled to add this to my collection. This is a photographers armband from the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo, Norway. The person who had it, a Norwegian, remembered that I collected such items and purchased it at an auction. The elastic straps on the back are still in good condition. The word I got was that there may be only one other one.

Michael B - that's a wonderful artifact. I would live to see the rest of your collection.

Harry Wright letter
2 Attachment(s)
I am posting the Harry Wright letter in Memorabilia due to its historical content and as a compliment to the Mcvey photo posted above.
In addition to dealing with details of the death of his father, it is on Boston Base Ball stationary, is addressed to the Secretary of St George’s cricket club which was so instrumental in George and Harry’s development, and mentions George. I have been trying to get at least one original photo and autograph document with content for Chadwick, Spalding and George and Harry. Harry was the one I was missing. |
Nice

Congratulations, Bruce.

Thank you Gary and Jim. Sold some small stuff to help get it. Now I need to upgrade by Spalding image to a period photo. Not easy. I am making do with aClipper woodcut, painting of the Warren standing in uniform pose and a nice engraving.

Great letter!!
Just curious - did you post your photos from an iphone? Seems those always show up small. I haven't been able to figure out how to get them any larger myself. Seems the only way is to post from a computer. Rob M |
1911 Wake Forest Baseball lithographic poster
1 Attachment(s)
Even though I am an early 19th century collector, I couldn’t resist this 1911 Wake Forest baseball poster, by the United States Printing Co., Eckert lithographic co, Washington DC. I played and coached there a long time ago, but not as early as 1911. Size about 20 by 30.
I saw some other colleges and sports from this series which seems to be distinguished by real ribbon on the college seal. If anyone has more information I would love to hear about it. Thanks |

1948 Cleveland Indians giveway - Burke Motors, Perth Amboy NJ
3 Attachment(s)
Sharing a neat pickup that I had not seen before until it popped up in my ebay saved search. This is a 1948 Cleveland Indians Team Photo Poster featuring the newly minted WS champs, issued by Burke Motors from Perth Amboy, NJ. I believe the connection to the team is based on NJ native son Allie Clark, who autographed the poster. It measures about 11" x 9.5" and is in overall Gd-Pr condition with two pinholes, a crease on the left edge, and a mark which is a circle around Allie Clark's pic along with his autograph below left. This photo is different from other more common photos of the 1948 Indians, including the 1948 Baseball Magazine M114 photo shown for comparison. Overall extremely happy with this pickup, and will consider it part of my Indians Type Card collection!

It's been a long time since I posted a pick up. Tonight my drought is over. I've been looking for one of these street banners for many years. I understand they were hung around the city welcoming the Pirates home from Baltimore. There are two versions. This is the larger one measures 39"×39".

1993 Cleveland Indians Herb Score Plaque
1 Attachment(s)
Another June pickup. I've been eyeballing this piece for months and the seller finally offered it in my price range. This is a presentation plaque given to Herb Score during the 1993 final season at Cleveland's Municipal Stadium. Measures 22" x 15" or so. The portraits are elevated cutouts resting slightly above the background, making for a very cool plaque when viewed in person. Happy to add this to my collection and it will eventually hang in my office.

Very cool pickup Jason. I love that kind of stuff.

Not sure exactly what this is called. It is the old typewriter copy of the contract between Eddie Mathews and his agent Frank Scott. Now I have 3 different ones, I also have Willie Mays and Al Kaline copies with Frank Scott.
I also picked up this cool Wade Boggs bat. I believe this is a index bat. Meaning it is a pro stock bat ordered by a team and used by anyone needing a bat, just not ordered or used by Wade Boggs. If I am wrong please correct me and let me know what it is. |
Great banner Mike! The Pirates had some great looking memorabilia in the 70’s.

I had once owned one of these but sold it and won this today in the Grant Zahajko auction. The price was less than half of what it should have gone for.

Just purchased this lot of 70+ team signed / All-star baseballs from the 1940s-1950s yesterday. The collection was once owned by Hoot Evers who played for both the Detroit Tigers and Baltimore Orioles. Evers gave this collection to the couple before his death in 1991.
I Last talked to the couple selling them over 5 years ago. Glad they saved my phone number:) http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/sayheykid1954/IMG_0913.JPG |
