The Pendulum is Swinging Back to Sellers on Ebay - Bid Retractions etc...

From a source of mine at ebay who helps me with fraudulent listings sometimes...We were having a discussion and sellers being abused came up. While I don't think the discussion about alterations vs restoration vs conservation needed to take place, PWCC did do some good with the bid retractions. Not perfect but more than most anyone else from what I have seen.

"The pendulum is definitively swinging back towards seller protections from abusive buyers so we will see where it goes, between us it is a shame PWCC won’t get the credit they deserve as most of the anti-retraction infrastructure in place today was from their continued advocacy. You’ll find it interesting to know, bid retractions are specifically called out in the most recent seller protections segment of the April Seller Release."

To the Roger Miller tune

Ebay swings like a pendulum do
Fraudsters and shill bidders two by two
High buy it nows, auctions you just can't win
Outrageous fees that get under your skin

I clicked your link Leon. I see no way to report "Invalid Bid Retractors". Shoot, I just had one tonight. He didn't like how high the bid had gotten, and wanted out. I don't need that kind of bidder bidding in my auctions. edwa_ferr is the ID if anyone cares.

Bid retractions is one of the options. I assume you report it the normal way you would report anything else. That said I think we will see ebay tighten their policy around bid retractions. I told my contact 1-2 a yr (my numbers) is still too many but better than it is now. I told him I have retracted about 1-2 bids in over 20 years. And I forget why or even when but do think I have had 1-2....

btw, the member suspended in this thread quickly gave a good phone number to file and was reinstated immediately after that.

And a Dockman with a (likely) missing ink pass...What is a thread without a card?
