1952 Topps Question:
2 Attachment(s)
I've been told that tan or cream-color backs for #'s 131-190 may be worth more than the gray ones. Could anyone enlighten me on this?
Thanks in advance, Robbie Attachment 352266Attachment 352267 |
News to me but I'll wait for more knowledgeable people to reply before I say I think it's not true.

For the 131-190 series they were made with the cream color backs. The gray backs are very difficult to find and sell for hundreds each for the commons.

I believe Grey backs are also considered the Canadian version? Yes, they are rare and do sell well. I have only found 2 out of hundreds of 52's I have acquired over the years. 1954 Topps has a similar rare back color version.

They sell for much more than their cream counterparts. I found 16 of these last year and had them graded, more for authenticity (and ability for resale) than just for grading them. I ended up with a couple that had 'none higher' grades and have sold a few since getting them graded. I also found a couple 1954 Topps (1-50) gray backs early this year, but both had writing on the back. Finding either require diligence and luck.
From what I understand, the Reiser (#189) is the toughest to find for some reason. |
