Clark Griffith uniform ID
This undated image of Clark Griffith has Paul Thompson stampings (or rather was glued to board that has Thompson stampings). There is a penciled ID on the back of the print..."Griffith / Manager N.Y. Americans".
Anyone have an argument as to whether this is Griffith in a NY Highlanders uniform (1903-1908) or a Cincinnati uniform (1909-1911)? There are elements that might lead to either conclusion, but the uniform as a whole doesn't fully match up to either team. Of course this could be spring training or a practice day at the park and Griffith could have been wearing an old cap, etc. https://i.ibb.co/QrVdhkW/Griffith-sm-n.jpg |
hello,
I believe it's a 1907 hat, 1906 pants with a possible letterman jacket. my 2 cents |

It's 100% NY image! The Reds didn't use that style of hat during the time he was active with the team.
Have fun! |
Definitely New York Highlanders and I would say 1904.

You're welcome, Ray. The reason I picked Hughes was because it was the only year he played for the Highlanders.

The only years I’m aware of where Yankees wore a dark hat with pinstripes were 1903. 1904, and 1907, so that narrows it a bit.

Clark doesn't have dark pants with pinstripes which were issued out in 1903,1904. 1906 was the only year Highlanders had DARK pants with NO pinstripes down the side. In 1907 they had pinstripe dark hats. That's why i believe it's a mix of 1906 and 1907.
enjoy! |
I made my original post exactly because the uniform seems to be a mix of year styles.
Here's another photo of Griffith, also credited to Paul Thompson, with same uni configuration. May well have been shot on the same day as the photo I posted: <a href="https://ibb.co/m6mC7VP"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/syhvrdX/Griffith-HA-sm.jpg" alt="Griffith-HA-sm" border="0"></a> |
