Highlander Chester Hoff interview

Kevin Kerr's 1993 Interview with Chester Hoff, with photos edited in. Fascinating stuff, talks about pitching to Ty Cobb and his relationship to Hal Chase .

Fun fact: Hoff was the longest living major league player. I believe he was 107 when he passed.

Aside from the possibility of some Negro League players for whom we do not necessarily have accurate birth records, I believe at 107 Chet Hoff was the longest-lived American pro athlete.

Fascinating guy. I've got a single signed Hoff ball on display in my office.

When my son was five years old in the mid 90's we sent Mr. Hoff a baseball to be signed. My son still remembers when the ball came back in the mail signed by the oldest living Yankee! Thanks for the post, I will share this with my son...
