All-time Favorite Baseball Caps
Hi All,
With this being the 150th anniversary of the MLB, and New Era releasing their retro “Turn Back the Clock” series of caps, it got me to thinking, what is your favorite baseball cap of all-time, MLB, Negro Leagues, Japan or otherwise? A few choices of mine are below… 1) 1967-90 Cincinnati Reds cap (Red cap, White C, no shadow), because it is forever how I’ll remember and love baseball. 2) New York Knights cap from The Natural, because, well, it’s The Natural. 3) Pittsburgh Pirates pillbox cap, with the bright yellow and black stars. It is so iconic. I could go on and on, but what are some of your favorites? Best always, John |
1.) 1969 Seattle Pilots
2.) 1962 Houston Colt .45s . |
Oooh, 1962 Houston Colt .45s — good call.
But my vote must be for the Detroit Tiger’s cap. I’ll resist referencing Thomas Magnum — and how good he looked sporting his Tiger’s cap on the 1980’s Magnum P.I. tv show. But everyone can look dashing in that lid;). There’s just something about the regality of the old English D on dark blue. |
1) 1968 Montreal Expos.
2) 1962 Houston Colt .45s 3) Any Yankees cap (except for those dorky ones in rainbow colors) |
1974 Atlanta Braves

'60s Angels lids with the silver halo were pretty cool.

I still love the Chief Wahoo Indians cap...no offense intended.

I seem to like caps with either striking color or dignified simplicity. In no particular order; Orioles - the orange stands out, Braves in Boston or Milwaukee, Expos - tri colored, Brooklyn Dodgers, NY Giants.
