Best Topps Design 1952-1976
Best Topps design 1952-1976.
|
Maybe because it's the first set I bought as a kid but I am partial to 1965. My second favorite is 1957.

Um...am I missing something?
Why are there only 5 limited choices in the poll? And the thread is titled "1952-1976," yet neither of those sets are even a part of it. How about listing all of the years from '52 to '76 in the poll?? |
Love the 1975 and 1965 sets
|
None of the choices. 1955 and 1965.
|
1956
|
1957 for me but big fan of most all of them.
|
1956.
And for some reason, I just cannot get excited about the 1954s. Below average design for me. |
I can never decide between 1956 and 1957. The 1954s and 1955 are literally prototypes for the '56 set, which is truly a masterpiece of baseball art. The '57s are like 1953 Bowman 2.0, with more cards and the innovative inclusion of year-to-year stats. The two sets are so different, but compliment each other so well.

I've always liked the '54 set. Nice variety of colors and some big time rookies. I've always thought the Ted Williams card, #250, was one of the best looking cards ever.

Of those years in the poll. I chose '53....with '67 being my second choice, then '57- hey, I like simplicity.
But my favorite is really the 1965 set. I should like '64 more than I do since that was the first year I bought cards. ...and I should like '56 more since that was my birth-year, but the design is one of the worst. All in MO and we all have one, right  |
No vote from me
1955 is just too incredible for me to even consider casting a vote for the listed sets - only thing missing from making it pure perfection is a Mantle card. Loved it since I was 13 and still love it today!
|
Can't really have an effective poll here with only these choices, and only one 60's set...
|
1) 1967
2) 1963 3) 1954 4) 1966 5) 1958 |
1956 Topps - the greatest design ever issued. Very colorful, my all time favorite.
1963 Topps - another colorful set. Personal for me. |
1956 for me.

I have seen comments for many years about how so many collectors like the '56 Topps set. While I have definitely not been anti, I just haven't owned very many cards from this set over the years. Now I am beginning to appreciate the design. My set building days are over, but I am interested in picking up a nice Mantle, Mays, Aaron, Williams, Clemente, and Robinson from this set.
As a side note, I generally like the '55 set but prefer the '56 Clemente to his rookie for some reason. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk |
My vote goes to 56 as well. Slowly working on the HOFers from the set.
