LOTG Auction
Is the auction open? It says it is in SMR and the first two lots have bids, but nothing else does. I’m more confused than usual.
|
In keeping with tradition I predict something will be seriously messed up, followed by several posts about how they're the greatest auction house in the business so we should just let it slide.
|
I was able to successfully place a bid just now.
|
Think both LOTG and RMY opened last night, both featuring great Joe Jackson photos as lot #1.
|
Nice, diverse offering...great as always!
|
I just made a bid, too, with no problems. Another terrific auction with lots of good items. Thanks, Al.
Cheers, Mike |
Have never seen those Matty Tuxedo Tobacco slides before

Great auction, Al. Love the 19th century stuff.

That is about as easy of a prediction as this post Pete Made in another thread. In 2019 I predict that some prominent names in the hobby will become implicated/found to be guilty of nefarious behavior. Pretty much 100% guaranteed. |

Never heard the 1958 NFL Championship referred to as the Ice Bowl before (RMY).

I have never bid but I will. I feel confident that he would not be allowed to be an advertiser here if he were not a decent guy. I am late to the party, possibly, so please do not jump down my throat too badly. :D |
Al is the salt of the Earth, and he has Jeff to complement him. Maybe that makes Jeff the pepper of the Earth.

Hi everybody:
First, thanks for all the positive comments. I'll say it again - I will never claim not to make mistakes. I will, however, pledge do do everything I can to make them right when they happen. And they will keep happening, as they do with all businesses. Based on Jay's post, I also think this is a good time to mention that Jeff is no longer employed by Love of the Game. Jeff was presented with an opportunity that was hard to pass up, which made it impossible to devote the kind of time to LOTG that the job requires. His departure was 100% amicable, we're still good friends and hopefully always will be. We definitely miss him already and if I'm able to replace him with someone even half as good, I'll be fortunate. Thanks, -Al |

How can item # 41 be a scorecard from the 1906 Season ? The cover states "World Champions" 1906 "American League Champions" ? Unless they could predict the future, it must be a 1907 Scorecard. Any opinions ? Needs to be relisted or upgraded to 1907 Scorecard. Big difference when dealing with Cobb material. I see "Archer" is listed for Detroit and he only played for Detroit in 1907

al is a great guy

I received my catalog today. Nice auction!
Here's what I would say about attempting comedy on the internet... If you are a Frank B. or a Colin Quinn, known for your comedy, then you don't need to put "ha-ha" at the end of your attempted jokes, but if you are just a regular poster like me, then you need to post "ha-ha" at the end of your post, so that there is no confusion about what you are talking about. ha-ha |
Still have not received my catalog. Hope it arrives soon.
|
Got mine today and it's wonderful. :D

After 300 lots
I found the cards! |
lotg
The website seems to be down at this time.

Yup
Yup, it is working again.

Pheeeew thank God, now I can finally have a good nights sleep tonight. |
Hopefully, the pack mule carrying my catalog will make it over the Rockies.

The catalog finally arrived. Are there others still awaiting theirs?
|
Got mine in Seattle a few days ago. Whoa, Cobb Fielding postcard doing well. Sold mine too early. :(
|
Speaking of the Dietsche Cobb Fielding, I am glad I got mine a few years back when Jeff L upgraded his copy.
Speaking of Jeff, I can hardly believe I only have two degrees of separation from El Chapo - probably prefer to have a few more than that! |
Think you'll be ok Jeff.
|
Fielding Ty Cobb Dietsche value rising quickly over the last year. Simular thing happened to the Gehrig 1925 Exhibit as the value soared quickly a few years back.
|
1907 Dietsche Fielding Cobb. It's Cobb, it's a "Rookie" year issue, low supply ( 12 graded by PSA) and high demand. Should be priced as high as some of those Ruth cards . Next $100K card , if in higher grade ??
