My Perfect Game Ticket Is Now Signed By Don Larsen.
I bought a full 1956 Game 5 World Series ticket last year. That of course was Don Larsen's perfect game. I wanted to have Don sign it, but he lives in Idaho and he rarely travels. I wrote him a letter last June and he finally responded in January. He offered to meet me in NYC at the Yankee's Old Timer's Game in June or at Yankee Spring Training in March.
I was able to meet him in Tampa last week and he was kind enough to sign my ticket. At 89 Don is very sharp and he's very humble too. He told me that he's a very lucky guy and he was very lucky that day. He is the only man still alive who played in that game! This was an awesome experience for me! https://i.imgur.com/4SWV6hx.jpg https://i.imgur.com/lpmjto4.jpg |
Amazing story, thank you so much for sharing. He sounds like a great guy. I would imagine this experience be one you will never forget. Congrats!

Congrats what an amazing experience

Awesome! You probably made his day too. It's pretty cool he still gets down to ST.

Hi Frank,
Great post & photo!! Thanks for sharing this. I'm glad to hear that Mr. Larsen is still doing well & appreciating life. I don't need to tell you how rare full tickets are to his perfect game. Congrats on finding one of the few unused survivors from this game and getting the priceless opportunity to spend a little time with Mr. Larsen in FL & getting it signed in person. |
Wow, this is beyond cool.
Glad you had this opportunity! |
Another frickin' ticket stub
Despite the rarity of a full ticket, frankly speaking, the game would not have been perfect without a battery.:D

Awesome experience. Lucky you. Got to meet Don Larsen about 20 years ago near his home in the Pacific northwest.

Fantastic! Glad it worked out. Had no idea he was the only living player from that game. Well done!
