Leard definitely needs more practice in the batting cage.

I always thought there was never a player that looked less athletic than Eddie Collins as depicted in his W575-2 card. For one of the best 2nd Basemen of all time just imagine how good he would have been had god given him shoulders!
I don't have a scan handy but here he is... https://www.psacard.com/cardfacts/ba...collins/302601 |

I resent you picking on a guy that played for a semi-pro league in my hometown, George Alusik. George was a tall (6'3") skinny guy, who could hit the ball a long distance. And, was a very good Outfielder. His claim to fame was when he played for the KC A's, Alusik hit HR's in five consecutive games. A record he held with the A's for 44 years until it was finally broken by Frank Thomas (playing for the A's) in 2006. TED Z T206 Reference . |

Anyone who has a cheeseburger tattooed on his chest has a rotund physique in his future.
|
I'm surprised no one mentioned the most obvious example...
Ruth Like most, I love the Babe, but if you showed anyone a photo of Ruth from the later part of his career, and they didn't know who he was, and then proceeded to explain his accomplishments and lofty status... I'm betting they would think you're pulling their leg. |
From the current player spectrum Matt Albers doesn't look like any kind of athlete I've ever seen.
|
George
Good ole George passed away recently, would see him all the time watching us play softball

If we're talking any sport, then John Daly wins hands down. Look at that gut and the cigarette hanging out of his mouth.

Hack Wilson was more tank than athlete.

I'll put CC up against John Daly for the tie. He looks like he's about to have a heart attack.

Hard to believe he was a top-notch reliever in his day... I think his ribs are poking through the Jersey in the second image.

Tony Gwynn and Prince Fielder would make my list

Nobody mentioned Guido Grilli?
As mentioned in "The Great American Baseball Card Flipping, Trading and Bubble Gum Book" https://img.comc.com/i/Baseball/1966...9c16&size=zoom |
Can someone post an M116 of Doc Scanlon? Ringer for Wiseguy-era Jonathan Banks, yes. Professional athlete? Not so much.
