March Pick Ups

Didn't see a thread for this month yet. I'm pretty happy to win this Bolt rookie. Always wanted one but it's a tough card to find without paying a buy it now:

Nice McCartney! I love the Houdini jokes by the way :-)

Here are a few more from some recent PSA & SGC orders:

* Of note, I like the PSA holders better and they seem to sell easier. However, for odd shapes (such as the Jordan picture), the custom insert that SGC provides looks much better than the plastic sleeve that PSA typically uses. So, I still opt to send some of the odd sizes to SGC because they present much nicer.

A just-missed Elmer Flick autograph attempt...

I saw this on ebay, and just felt like I had to have it. It adds a lot of personality to the TTM autograph process that would-be seekers of signed T206 cards went through. I did ask the seller whether he remembered what card he sent to Flick for signing, but he sadly did not recall.

Just got these two in this week. Now down to eight to complete the signed set. Will probably pick up a couple of those, but Clemente and Farrell, prolly not.

Nothing to crazy, but a I picked up both an Aparicio signed ball & a Phil Niekro signed book for a grand total of just $3.50 at my local Goodwill.

Gosh, now I want to go check out my local Goodwill. Flea market prices seem over inflated these days.

Larry Doyle M116

Very excited to add this signed Doyle M116 to my collection. I'm fascinated with the pairing of it against my signed E95 Doyle. It's really interesting to note the different artistic approaches for augmenting the same black and white image.

Another signed Doyle, this one a T201. Really clean example!

Shaw and Houdini have been on my short list for a while now. I've been the under-bidder on so many Shaws you would not believe it.

Wouldn't it be great if one morning the Houdini autograph was sitting on the table outside the plastic case, with no sign whatsoever of tampering?

1938 Ted Williams

I posted a pic of this back in February before it arrived. Probably my new favorite autographed item: 1938 Ted Williams handwritten letter mentioning having recently hit his 36th HR of the season (with Minneapolis).

Sadly, I received 'Frozen' in the mail the other day. I had put off reading it long enough (I thought), but obviously not long enough. It's horrible what humans are capable of. RIP Ted.

Picked up this postcard. Waite Hoyt. Not an expensive item. But I liked the signature style from 1949.
