I figured it should be here, as the same colorants were used in printing inks as well as writing inks. Much of what's there would apply more to autographs than cards.

Agree. That stuff has for a while been used in authentication of paintings, ancient artifacts, etc. And I've said it's not long before it's applied to sports memorabilia.

The technology is so sophisticated, it can not only authenticate a diamond, it can tell you where in the world it originated.
