Autograph ball by umpire - info help needed
5 Attachment(s)
Attached are various photos of a baseball I purchased at a sale about 7 years ago. The sale was at an auction house where the auctioneer would bring unsold items from an estate sale to his auction house and sell in box lots. I purchased 2 signed baseballs and this one was one of the two signed balls.
These autographs appear to be all autographs by baseball umpires. Would anyone know where all these umpires would have been meeting for someone to get this many signatures?? Any idea of a value? I tried to make out the autographs and came up with these, there are likely more on the ball but I do not know who they are. Baseball of NL & AL Umpires L. Young Wm. Haller T. McClelland L. McCoy M. Hirschbeck E. Gregg D. Harvey - HOF D. Morrison B. Froemming G. Crawford R. Garcia G. Davis E. Montague NL 12 #11 J. Layne #24 R. Marsh #30 J. Hirschbeck #17 T. Hendry #35 S. Palermo #14 D. Scott H. Maybe he got them all at Spring training games or ????. Its a cool ball, but probably doesn't have a ton of demand, tho you have some deceased on there.
2-300 or am I way off? looking forward to other replies |

perhaps a Union function
do you recall what you paid for it? |
Based on the use of different pens I'd guess the signatures were acquired over a period of time rather than all at once. I have no clue on value, something like that could be pretty desirable to the right collector, but it's a pretty cool item.
You've got a few potential HOFers on there in West and Froemming. |
