Nearly $27K for a T218 set!!
Lelands sold the #1 T218 set last night, for a final price of $26,870. The GPA was 7.17 (8.02 with their artificial inflation on the registry, but whatever).
Incredible set, and I know how hard these are to find in NM and better, so a 7+ set is an amazing offering. But nearly $27K for the set?? This equates to an average of $175. Sure, you get the PSA 8 and 7 Johnsons in the set, but there are a lot of other athletes cards which would sell for much smaller amounts. So I can't imagine this was purchased for breakup value. Anyone else have thoughts on this final price on the set? I was bidding until about half the final price, then enjoyed being a spectator. I guess I'll have to be content with 5.38 GPA set! |
Impressive price, but all things considered I think it is a bargain in the long run, no chance to get that short term in a break up,but if someone is a registry set person they got number 1 at a relatively small price point.

My friend put the set together. At one time PSA 8s were selling for $800! So, whoever bought it got a bargain. It took him 20 years of upgrading. There’s a big difference between driving by and buying a brick house and building it brick by brick. In general, these vintage registry sets in any sport are a bargain.
