Let's try seeing some ZEENUT cards again.....especially if their Coupon is intact
Needless to say, a ZEENUT with it's intact Coupon is a rare gem (especially
the pre-1930's cards). And, they sure go for some nice $$$$, nowadays. Starting this show with my nicest and last remaining ZEENUT...…. http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...tHolmesTab.jpg TED Z T206 Reference . |

I told a few hobby friends that I was starting to collect a few tabbed Zeenuts. W.E Knothe - a player forgotten by nearly all, but this was the first tabbed Zeenut I shared with folks. The start of my current collecting passion. How I love this thread. How I love Zeenuts! How I'm so grateful to David and Mark and Bob and Rhett and so many others for sharing information and knowledge with me over the years. Here's my first tabbed Zeenut: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/lk...NJm_YkvVx-zfLg And a nod to Leon as well - as it took me a long time (and the dissolution of his collection) to complete a run of tabbed Zeenuts. All these years later, there are a handful of years for which I've only been able to attend five or fewer examples. And another nod to the grading companies. You want to call this a 3 Very Good? Fine, you do that. I've liberated most of the graded tabbed Zeenuts I own, but this is one of many absolutely stellar examples of a tabbed Zeenut that are probably in the top 5% condition wise of anything you'd find (tabbed or otherwise) from that amazing PCL era |
The Coveleski is beautiful. I didn't know one existed with the tab. The Arbuckle posted earlier is not bad either.

I don't currently have any with coupon. Here are a few of my favorites |

Fritz was a member of Passaic High's famed "Wonder Team" that won 159 consecutive basketball games from 1915 to 1924. John Pomorski was another member of that Passaic High basketball team that went on to play in the major leagues. Neat card, thanks for showing it! |

I'd like to see more Zeenut cards, so I thought I'd post a pickup here. A 1912 Arellanes (from a board member). A former major leaguer from the San Jose area (the focus of my small Zeenut collection). This one is not easy to find (although I have heard that there are more difficult 1912s.)
I have a request from those with deeper Zeenut collections. I've never seen the 1913 or 1914 Arellanes (Arrelanes) cards. Does anyone have these cards? I'd be happy to just see them. I'd also like to see the 1913 Hap Hogan. |
Hi Marc-
I'm the other Marc who likes Zeenuts. But not like OG Mark, who is the master of Zeenut knowledge. I generally only collect the tabbed Zee's, so whilst I have a few '13s and '14s in my modest collection, I don't have Hap Hogan or Arellanes. Here's one of my tabbed Zee's that I like - http://photos.imageevent.com/ltsgall...StatzSGC50.jpg Although the name Jigger perhaps wouldn't fly these days, I generally think of Mr. Statz as the Pete Rose of the PCL. A lifetime .312 hitter, he played his entire, long career with the Los Angeles Angels, amassing over 3,000 hits. He was part of the legendary 1934 team, which sported 137 wins to only 50 losses, with five PCL HOF'ers on its squad, including this fine gentleman. In University at Holy Cross, one of his coaches was a well known name...Jesse Burkett. Happy weekend all |
Marc, nice Statz with a coupon. There are a few Zees in this thread that are on my list!

The only Zeenuts I have are these of Paul Zahniser and Earl McNeely, both of whom played on the 1924 Wash. Senators championship team. McNeely's bad-hop single in the 12th inning of the 7th game of the 1924 World Series brought in the winning run and made WaJo the winning pitcher in relief. I'd love to acquire one of these McNeely cards with the coupon attached.

I like them better with coupons, of course, but don't have any in Collection II, yet.
