Unknown Ty Cobb postcard series
Sorry for another Cobb postcard thread, but this one I found interesting. Looks like a previously unknown 1912 Cobb postcard series has surfaced.
This one has been known and owned by multiple board members... always thought it was a one-off. https://photos.imageevent.com/bicem/...size/lf_2.jpeg (photo courtesy of Heritage) But looks like another pose of Cobb exists and it's obviously from the same publisher/company. https://photos.imageevent.com/bicem/...5-221913_2.png (photo courtesy of the Jeff Lichtman collection) Wonder what others are out there??? |
Cool Jeff.
That's the La Azora pose. |

Jeff, NEVER apologize for another Cobb postcard thread. :D
I have my fingers crossed that someone has something else to add. Quote:

How did SGC know the Year of Publication ? Is the back blank ? Kind of looks like 1912 E300 Plow's Candy without the advertising. Definitely a La Azora pose from 1912 . Any other opinions?

Postcard back. The first one is postmarked 1912.

Always loved that top postcard of him with his bat.

Thanks for posting Jeff. So, what name do we call this new postcard set? La Azora Cigars? Maybe they made schedules, postcards, and others just like Pinkerton did around the same timeframe. I'm sure in 1912 they were having Tiger fever with Cobb being a baller!

Lelands had a La Azora PC back in August auction, I didn't know what they were at the time.
