1958 topps Aaron

I just read an article on this set and 2 questions came to mind for my friends out there.

1) Is there really a blue background Aaron card and if so it must be very rare. If there is a blue aaron, then there must be other green background cards that are also blue.
2) What card replaced #145 bouche and therefore is double printed.

Thx billp

No blue Aaron, it's been proven to be sun bleach.

The blue Aaron cards are ALL altered. Here is mine in a SGC slab and pictures of it magically changing from green to blue.:D:D:D This is the only known blue version with bright yellow in the Braves logo.

thx for the update. sounds right. I was wondering my other green backgrounds of the 1st series were never brought out as blue as well.

LOL. Looks like Hank didn't get his SPF 30 sunscreen?

here's one that is blue and has no yellow at all. It came from an original group of 58's, several with no yellow at all, missing that color pass, presumably shortly after the change from yellow to white team/name changes.

Interesting and graded. Maybe it's a proof card of some sort.

Very interesting card

Ben, are you saying you "bleached" this card from the darkest green raw version to the blue version in the slab? How? And how did it not affect the other colors on the card?

I would bet that Aaron and the other cards from that group sat out and faded. On 58 Topps the yellow disappears really really easily. I have seen several that look exactly like yours except for a little square, rectangle, or circle of green background. That happens from the card setting in a display case with a price sticker, that's how easy they fade.

Yes I changed the colors on the one pictured in the SGC slab. The other pictures are of that card during the process. No I will not tell you how it is done.:)

On 58 Topps just having them in a lighted display case will cause them to lose the yellow after a couple years.

I collect errors and have been burned by people altering cards. So I learned how to do it so I know what to look for in a real and altered error cards.

Most, if not all, of the blue Aaron's I have seen still have some noticeable yellow left in the logo circle

If there really were blue 58 Aaron cards, Al would have had one years ago! :D

Come to think of it, there was a blue Bob Buhl a few years back, I think. or another highly touted Blue variety of a green 58.

ALL the 58 Topps cards with missing or light yellow are altered. They are very cool to look at and I have seen the "blue" Aaron in slabs from each of the big 3 grading companies.

Here is a cool Spahn. Sorry for the bad picture, this card looks amazing in hand.

Here is a link to one of the previous discussions on them. http://net54baseball.com/showthread....lue+hank+aaron
