When Baseball Card meets Baseball Memorabilia..
 

Thanks to LOTG for this one...One of my new faves. (would love to see the poster mentioned on the card). If anyone else has some baseball postcard advertising they would like to show it would be great.

Awsome looking postcard

I find it Interesting that the PC references the championship series between the Cubs and the Tigers, but the players shown left, middle and right appear to be White Sox and Senators.:eek:

I'm fascinated by the idea that the actual display exists somewhere. Clearly, the company did a mass mailing to retailers; there must have been at least a prototype built at some point. But I'd find it hard to believe that the company would mail out this postcard without being able to fulfill the orders they invariably received - or at least some followup communication somewhere that explained why they couldn't.

On a somewhat related note, here is a Ratsch-Peerless reverse-glass advertising sign from the same era. This is from Carlton Hendricks’ collection, and measures 14 1/2 X 12 1/2.

Ratsch Peerless really had a knack for using colorful vibrant graphics.

I'm not a postcard guy but that one is really neat.

Same stadium and postcard-like look, very neat. I just wish they weren't asking so much for it. I know it's a BO but with that high of a starting asking price I don't think I am interested.

I hear ya'. But as someone who collects things not seen too often before, sometimes my excitement ends up costing me money. I overpay....Fortunately it's not a must have item. As a postcard I wanted it more because of my focus on those.

I picked up this Sawyer Biscuit companion piece a while back. It features Bob Elson (Cubs/White Sox broadcaster), who was featured in the set. Postmarked to 1937, the year before that set is believed to have been printed, and the back is a brief advertisement of sorts for Sawyer Biscuit products.

Interestingly enough, he's pictured here with Babs Gillen, who was mentioned in a Sawyer Biscuit redemption letter as a subject that is also in the set. Gillen had not been previously checklisted and, to date, I have never seen one of her Sawyer Biscuit photos.

And here's my '3/4' Joe Hauser Wheaties Minneapolis Millers (backs have an ad for Wheaties) where some knucklehead cut off part of the left side for whatever reason.
