Where do you buy your cards?
Hello all,
just wondering where everyone gets their cards, looking for a reputable fairly priced place, I currently use ebay, this forum, and blowout cards. Thank you |
Here, ebay, and auction houses. No Craigs list for me.

Local bi-monthly card show, eBay, COMC and here. In that order in terms of volume.

Buying
Hey there,
I still go go show shows in my area and do some buying even though the prices are often way too high. It is nice to chat with others who love the hobby. Most of my buying is done from auction houses, this board, and trusted sellers on eBay. I have never purchased a card off of Craigslist. K |
For post-war cards, particularly mainstream sets, commons and cards with higher production numbers, COMC is a great place. But the higher priced cards can be really a lot higher than other places (think Trout autos, Mantles, etc.).
My best experiences have been through this board, while I also use eBay, go to a local card show and just had my first auction win through Heritage on Sunday night. I haven't found a local card shop that fits the bill, yet. |
Thank you all for the responses
|
Like any junkie, I buy here, there and everywhere.

Pre-War - Ebay, Here, Shows. In that order
Post-War - Shows, Ebay, Facebook, Yard Sales/Flea Markets, Here |
Ebay, the National, major auctions and here. I would note that it appears that auction houses are trumping the National for the better cards, which is somewhat of a shame to me as it takes away some of the thrill of the hunt.
May your collecting be joyful, Larry |
A large majority of mine are from eBay, some from online dealers directly and a small number here.
|
N54, of course!
I buy almost everything here. I don't have the patience for Ebay, searching through crap, and dealing with BINs and Offers that are twice what they should be. I live in Denver, and since there are no shows, I just hang out here on N54 and wait for something to come along.
|
eBay, Heritage, REA, RMY, n54
Sadly no more LOTG since I'm not allowed to bid. |
Quite a few of what I would consider my "better" cards are direct purchases from people here or non-54 friends. Most of the rest are from ebay or (in the case of non-sports) a foreign auction site. A relatively low percentage from AHs; I almost always get outbid even when I bid strong.
|
COMC, then Wal*Mart (retail packs), then Blowout breaks, then eBay, then auctionhouses, then Net54.
Breaking is a great way to go broke. Just stay away. |

Along with what others have mentioned here, I have also had success buying cards from Sportlots.com.
|
Thanks again for all the replies, what are some reputable auction houses?
|
I buy most of my stuff here. I also do some auction houses, Sterling is really the only major one I have had much luck with. I don't know why, but when I list something with an auction house, it seems to go for less than I thought it would but when I try to buy something from an auction house it seems to go for much more than I thought it would. I go to about three or four shows a year usually with a $300-500 budget.

I buy 'em everywhere. AH's, here on our BST, ebay etc..; wherever they turn up is fine. Every thread needs a card. This came from ebay but was in my first collection too...Some cards just boomerang like that....
