Opinion of which set to get graded?
I have raw sets from the 50s and seeking some opinions....which of the Bowman/Topps set in the 50s is the most worthwhile/interesting to collect as a graded PSA 6-7 level set. Factors obviously include price, availability, collectibility, how much the key cards will set u back, single prints, pervasive centering issues, attractiveness etc. I love the 53 Bowman color but they’ve always seemed tough in find in nice shape. 53 Topps are beautiful and interesting while 56 Topps are reasonable in nice grade. Thoughts?

Is the idea to grade a set you already have and upgrade the ones that don't get to the 6-7 range?
I'd probably grade the stars if I thought they were nice enough, and try to pick up the commons already graded. Sometimes I see them in grades like 6 for right around the grading fee, sometimes less. Although you'd probably get a better deal on a bulk submission, if for instance a 56 common is $10 as a 6, you know for sure it's a 6 while some you send in might come back with a 5 . The idea of spending what it takes to get an entire set graded would be a bit daunting to me. I'm too cheap, and would rather spend that much on more cards or stamps or bike parts or coins or ….. |
Yes...grade the raw sets I have and then upgrade where necessary. After the initial expenditure for grading fees it would be just be tweaking it

Wouldn’t waste the money in grading a entire set. I Only grade the super stars in 7 and above.
