Please help ID these Cleveland Indians (1940s)
I bought a collection of miscellaneous stuff that included four large snapshots of Cleveland players. This one I know is Paige:

Interesting photos. The Feller snapshot is the same photo as his 1952 Berk Ross card, and the previously ID'd Boudreau snapshot is the same as a late 1940s Team Issue Postcard. I think the last snapshot is also Boudreau.

i also thought the 3rd snapshot was boudreau but wasn’t as sure as I was about the other two, so I held back on that one. Glad someone else thinks the same.

Thanks for the input and the positive card based IDs on the two. I really appreciate the expertise here. I agree the final one is Boudreau too.
Now for the next question: since the Feller and first Boudreau are the same as the card photos, any idea why they are in snapshot form? Was there a snapshot team issue? Did the photographer retain rights and make his own? They are so crisp and clean that they are definitely first gen. I know I've seen another Paige snapshot of similar format and clarity that was sold in Hake's from the Merkin Collection and appeared to have some professional use, so I am thinking these are somehow related. The collection I bought looks like it was assembled around 1980-1985. The last cards in it were 1984 local LA regionals. If that helps. I know its all speculative but they are great photos. |
