How rare is this error?
I know this is a known error but I don't see it listed on any checklist.

They are printing flaws as i have seen the "li" slightly faded to completely gone. |
marichal
thanks ben. The last sale on VCP is 925 for an SGC 88. Is there any other documentation?

Your card's back has two variations. The missing letters in Marichal" is the most obvious variation. The second variation is the "li" missing in "list" on back 2nd line of text. On one copy I have seen has both variations as your copy does. Richard D's variation list show these as separate variations which holds as I have seen another copy only missing letters in list w/o the missing letters in Marichal. However, I have not seen a variation of this card that only has the missing letters in Marichal. Also, the copy I had seen had less of Marichal's name missing, so it appear that variable amounts of his name are obscured.
How rare is the variation? I have not seen many copies of either of these variations, but I don't feel it is as rare as a WL 68 McCormick or the 69 #567 w/o black. |

7(OF) for the bad registration if you decide to grade?
You'd have to get it truly checklisted with Beckett or someone in order for PSA to even consider adding it as a variation. |

Marichal incomplete name on back.
Any other recorded sales or similar info?

Greg, I own 2 of these, both look like yours. Bought both about 5 years ago.
One I picked up at a card show for $1 (the seller had no idea what it was), the other on the bay for $20. Both are mid grade. I have been waiting for PSA to accept this variation, then I will send them in for grading. Wait has become longer than expected.... |

Anyone know the last card(s) that finally received that designation? I would have thought by now that PSA, and/or the others, would have recognized the 52 Topps Yellow Tiger House by now. I believe, Lemke, had tried or was thinking of trying but that is the last I have heard about it. When people own cards like these, I assume they write or call PSA and the others to enquire? |
Yes. They can put a request in to have PSA log it as a new variation, but PSA normally won't unless it the set has been fully checklisted with the variations in a card catalog or price guide like Beckett or the Standard Catalog. So really, the first step should be to get it officially checklisted. Once that's done, you've got to work with PSA to have them declare it a variation they check for.
I have a couple that I've had graded hoping to get them checklisted over time, then resend in for reslabbing once they've made that variation: 1972 Topps McNertney with yellow fingerprint https://img.comc.com/i/Baseball/1972...afe3&size=zoom 1963 Topps Bob Veale with blue and purple streak in sky 1960 Topps Master & Mentor Mays/Rigney with extra brown box on back There are also two 1967 Laughlin Mickey Mantle cards (one with black spot on pants) I think all these are in the Show me your print defects thread. |

I have the Bob Veale "UFO" card in my ebay store https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/MbMAA...LW/s-l1600.jpg |
Thanks; I bought a couple of copies already on COMC. If PSA recognizes it, it will definitely increase in value.

I have seen, and know of multiple other copies of the Juan card (thanks to this thread). However, I have handled many more copies of this 68 Perez card, but have never seen one with this back:
Possibly rarer than the 67 Juan . |
Extremely rare!!!
