National Autograph Sting

Saw this link, not sure who the dealer was as I left Thursday mid-day.

Glad to see this happening - the sole reason I would never collect autographs TOO MANY FAKES that are too good

I will give him credit for one thing. It takes a lot of balls to set up a booth at the national to sell fake autographs with so many hobby experts and professional authenticators in attendance.

That cart was rolled by my dad and I. I told my dad that people rip wax and sell stuff straight from National, and that was stuff being shipped out.

Boy was I wrong...

Always enjoy reading about the scam artist getting taken down. It is a shame there were so many victims involved.

I don't think it's a commentary on his balls, but his number of brain cells.

It's a criminal mentality. He needs to trade those brain cells in for other ones. Always happy to hear of a fraudster being taken down. Good for the authorities on this one. Maybe we can get their name and get some more help in the hobby? Maybe they are enthusiastic about stopping large scale fraud.

It's been talked about in the autograph forum as well. Seems the name of the seller may be Tony Podsada.

He is infamous in autograph collecting circles.

What will happen to this fraudster? Credit time served?

Or both perhaps. Either way I'm glad he was caught. The more hobby fraudsters we can put away the better. Hopefully stories like this will deter others from committing similar acts.

Well, the guy from the SI story who made 2 MILLION got a whopping 7 years.

I do wonder, of the 300K ebay/paypal made, how much they refunded.
