Ebay T206 Lungren Cubs

Despite my inability to provide a link, tech-challenged, you know, please check out the captioned on Ebay for the PSA 4 Lungren Cubs team variation ending shortly and tell me if you agree with the assigned grade. The lower front clearly shows a wrinkle cutting thru to the reverse with a fainter crease behind it. Should be a 2.5 at best. And the new PSA hologram is there, showing it was graded recently. Kinda makes you wonder, particularly with a $600 price tag. Clearly a case of buy the holder, not the card.

Here's the link (I think)

Agreed, it's a 2.5 at best. There's actually a 2 and SGC 3 that present better than this 4.

rats60 07-29-2018 03:11 PM

Agree that is overgraded. I have had nicer cards graded 3

But doggone it, the seller claims it is centered, and that is all that collectors apparently crave nowadays.

I would much rather buy the holder, than hold the buyer, centering not withstanding.

Remember too it could be a reholder from an earlier slab

swarmee 07-29-2018 06:55 PM

Cert number is within the last year.

Throttlesteer 07-29-2018 07:05 PM

I don't think there was ever an era where that would be considered a 4. 3 perhaps, but not a 4

Aquarian Sports Cards 07-29-2018 07:42 PM

Yeah that's a legit moderate to heavy crease, plus the wrinkles. I know its in the corner but still

I couldn't have said it any better myself Frank.

It is an awfully generous grade. Still a nice card but I agree with the 2.5 mark.

They would have given me a 1.5 on it. The '51 Mantle I had smoked it in condition and they gave it a 2. Don't collect holders :).

What's funny is that the new Ebay shows me this listing, for the same card, but graded a 3 with a bit of paperloss on the front.

The original card has since sold it appears, so thanks to eBay's default method of popping up an active listing, it's now showing the new listing of a 3 with paper loss which also appears overgraded!

Yeah, I was wondering about that as well.
