And to think I wasn't even a "thought" back then :) Oh have the times changed

ullmandds 07-27-2018 06:06 PM

you're probably right, Waz!!!! Looking at VCP/past sales even throwing out a few anomalous sales over 15K...I believe my asking is reasonable considering how nice it is.

ajjohnsonsoxfan 07-27-2018 07:58 PM

absolutely love that centering. glws

barrysloate 07-28-2018 04:13 AM

I honestly was hoping for a bump in grade or an even swap. This was maybe 5-7 yrs ago. I probably still have the old flip somewhere.

CMIZ5290 07-28-2018 04:09 PM

Great card, Pete. Much better off in a PSA 3.5 than an SGC 50, especially being well centered, and as hot as Green Cobbs are and have been....

KingFisk 07-28-2018 09:04 PM

That is a beauty, Pete!

Rhotchkiss 07-28-2018 09:15 PM

That is a good looking card. GLWS

ullmandds 07-29-2018 06:44 AM

If the price was less one zero, the way things have progressed in Green Cobb land, you probably would be lucky to get one that looks like this.

Brian (nice card Pete)

ullmandds 07-30-2018 07:19 AM

i assuming no more than 10,500, or at least more than you were willing to offer..

Bpm0014 07-31-2018 07:32 AM

What did you end up getting for the card?

A little out of line/bold to ask that....

ullmandds 08-01-2018 04:49 PM

Ty was sold...and will be boarding a plane shortly.

CMIZ5290 08-01-2018 05:24 PM

Pete, Good job on the sale. A lot of people missed a great opportunity at a solid green Cobb....

Why is it a concern to you? Card is sold, Pete's price is between him and the buyer. Also, his reduced price was extremely fair IMO....

ullmandds 08-01-2018 06:15 PM

Thx kevin

Peter_Spaeth 08-01-2018 06:20 PM

Prices realized, just not the ID of the buyer, are visible on ebay and all auction houses, what's so special about the BST? Prices realized are helpful data points.

iowadoc77 08-01-2018 06:24 PM

The difference here is that the seller has a choice to disclose or not. I like seeing prices but it is entirely up to the seller.

Obviously, but I don't understand why a seller would not disclose the price, what's the great secret?

I definitely agree that I also like to know the price. Just making an observation.

ullmandds 08-01-2018 07:07 PM

I am merely respecting the buyer's discretion. You guys can extrapolate the ballpark likely within a few hundred...in fact the selling price is littered all over this thread.

calvindog 08-02-2018 02:31 PM

What does it go for in a straight 8?

Jeff....Such sour grapes. Wonder what Gotti would pay for a straight 8?:)

ullmandds 08-02-2018 04:26 PM

I believe its “sour” grapes.

Because many buyers would not want what they paid in a private sale disclosed publicly. Doing so without the expressed permission of the buyer could damage a relationship and be bad for business. Why risk that with nothing to gain by revealing the price?

If nobody knows who the buyer is who cares? I don't get all this cloak and dagger crap, it's baseball cards.

The buyer might. I have said in the past I think its ridiculous that people are allowed to remove asking prices from the bst. I also disagree with Leon banning Jake from quoting listings to prevent list prices from being deleted. But to expect a seller to disclose a sale price is unreasonable to me. And even if you could force the issue, how often do you think you'd get the truth?

Hey, less time on the BST and more time beating the backwoods of Valdosta for comedic talent, Kevin! Those comedians aren't going to discover themselves!

If you think telling someone they can't circumvent the rules then that is your opinion and you are entitled to it.

I didn't realize there was an official rule allowing us to remove asking prices after a sale is made. In my opinion there should not be. And Jake was just helping to make sure that information remained public. As it should have always been.

There isn't a rule per se'. But when a seller takes the price down he doesn't mean for another member to post it. And I had a poorly written sentence. It should have said if you think it's ok, it's your prerogative, but it's not ok to me.

I figured that's what you meant. And since there is no official rule regarding removing prices from the bst I feel there should also be no rule against quoting listings so prices can't later be deleted. Not a huge deal I suppose, but I just find it annoying when asking prices get deleted and felt Jake was helping out the community by making sure that information stayed available.

Nor was it ok with me. It’s not Jakes or any other members decision/call to interfere with another members bst auction which isn’t theirs. It’s a very slippery slope.

I know of many others here who feel the same way as I, with Leon being one of them. Thank you for that Leon!

I know that on a forum like this one, it seems like it’s ok to know what exact amount everyone pays for a transaction. But honestly, it’s just a public place to sell that’s not an AH or eBay, for obvious reasons. I don’t believe simply being an N54 member gives any of us the privilege to know what goes on inside every BST sale that occurs. eBay sold data and VCP gives enough up-to-date info to ballpark any card. I bought this Green Cobb from Pete, who is top notch and professional, and provides great insight into the hobby in his posts, as do others.
All else I can say is thanks Pete for great centered Green Cobb..

3-2-count 08-04-2018 11:08 AM

Congrats on the pick up Tom. Beautiful card!

brianp-beme 08-04-2018 11:32 AM

I just thoroughly checked this thread and I am convinced that the card sold for just under $110,000.

Brian (just call me a numbers man)

Thanks tom and you’re welcome. Only low-graded...overpriced examples at the national this year from what I saw!!
