Identify Yogi's pals in this picture
1 Attachment(s)
This will not be that difficult, but there are a few that I'm stuck on.
I now believe the setting is the Yogi Berra Museum and learning center in NJ. Thanks in advance. 1. Guest 2. Guest 3. George Brett 4. Yogi Berra 5. Guest 6. Brooks Robinson 7. Graig Nettles 8. Mike Schmidt 9. Guest 10. Guest Attachment 322952 |
Actually, this is really hard. :D

3 - George Brett
8 - Mike Schmidt Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
3 George Brett
A few look familiar but CRS has kicked in.:) |
Darn it David, those were the only two I knew right away.
|
6. Brooks Robinson
7. Graig Nettles? |
Not Cooperstown.
Looks like a photo of the opening of the Yogi Berra museum in Little Falls NY. The opening was in 1998, you may be able to find a news story that lists the guest addendees. |

Found this snippet on a 2006 gala with those folks as guests,
https://baristanet.com/2006/11/a-rods-no-show/ Some of the others may be donors, not ex- players. |
Agree that the setting is the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center, but Little Falls is in New Jersey.:D
|
I thought Yogi's only pal was Boo Boo. :-) I can't believe no one else guessed him.
He is smarter than the average bear! |

Don't tell my Jersey relatives |
#2 looks alot like Roy Smalley III
|
1 - Studs Terkel
Passaic Valley HS graduate here. Go Hornets! |
#5 looks like Chase Utley :D
|
#10 could be Bobby Richardson
|
It looks like it may have been in May 2007. They held a "A Night at the Hot Corner" at the museum.
Make that November 16, 2006. Steve |
Utley
5. Chase Utley (Time Machine?)
|
Who's #9?
|
I don't think #10 is Bobby Richardson
Check this out...... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KT_DrYWp_k TED Z T206 Reference . |
If 5 is Utley I'll eat my hat.
9 looks familiar. Like he used to have a stache but now I can't name him. |

Also, if there is agreement that #1 is Studs Terkel, the picture had to be taken before October 2008, as he died on Oct 31st, 2008. Steve https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/EW0AA...gU/s-l1600.jpg |
#9 may just be a non-descript museum staffer...I know they tend to jump into Cooperstown group photos with regularity.
|
#10 Al Rosen?

Honestly, since we know the picture was taken at the Yogi Berra Museum, I, personally, would contact them. They have to have records that would include a listing of previous events. They could probably look up and find any instances of Nettles, Brett, Robinson, and Schmidt being there at the same time, along with whoever else was there with them.
Steve |
I think I see Joe Jackson in there. :D
|
#6 is Brooks Robinson.
|
I think I agree regarding Utley, that pic looks like 2018 Utley, not 2008 Utley.
I am pretty confident that I have seen #9 before but cannot place the face and it is driving me nuts. I keep eagerly opening the new posts in this thread hoping that he has been id'd! |
#10 could be George Kell
|
#10 is not Kell, I grew up watching Tiger broadcasts, and that’s definitely not him.

Utley wannabe is the only guy not looking at the camera. Definitely some museum patron. Rookie can't take a pic. Haha. |
Not to drop a grenade, but George Brett is the best player in that pic, unless #9 is Ty Cobb. :D
|
Just another opinion, but while maybe that's Rosen, and he certainly wouldn't be out of place in that group,
it don't look like him to us. Al had a pretty prodigious schnozz, and we're not seeing it there. Here's Al within just a few years of that 2006 group photo: <IMG SRC="http://www.net54baseball.com/picture.php?albumid=949&pictureid=24932" border-0 alt> |
I am so glad StudsTerkel was photographed while he was still living. Thanks for pointing that out.

Steve, Your post was the most helpful. I just got off the phone with a kind lady at the Museum, who was as determined as you guys to answer the question posed. Once I got her logged in to Net54, it was easy. The correct list is now posted in my original post. Only 5 players are in the photo: Brett, Yogi, Brooks, Graig & Schmidt. The other five were guests that evening. Disclaimer: This was not posed as a trick question, nor is it my photo. The grandfather of my daughter-in-law has the photo and through her asked me the question. Thanks to all who contributed. I am glad to resolve the issue before this thread became a Net54 classic. Now, can anyone identify the five guests.:D:D:D |
Lol those guests should be honored we made them revered major leaguers!!!!

So, just to be clear, are you saying that #1 isn't Studs Terkel? That guy could make money playing his double.
|
David Wright along with Alex Rodriguez canceled at the last minute, Wright's excuse was that he was double booked that night, Rodriguez had a better excuse, his mother suddenly fell ill.

So not only is #1 not Terkel but #2 isn't Smalley?
"Celebrity impersonators," apparently. |
