Scott Boras makes excuses for Harper
|
I will say his on base percentage is actually in line with his player history minus the monster year he had. Just to be a contrarian. Don't like boras either.

What a bunch of horse crap.

Sooooo, maybe Harper should learn how to go to the opposite field? And, doesn't the lefty already have a shorter distance to get to first base? The great ones adapt. They shifted the hell out of Ted Williams, and he figured it out. Lou Boudreau used to pull this on him all the time. Well, with the AL pennant on the line on Friday the 13th of September, 1946, Williams hit the ball to left field to win the game 1-0 It was the only inside the park home run of the Kid's career. Learn to adapt, Brycey, or keep hitting .220 the rest of your career. |

Meanwhile...in a better place, Mr. Tony Gwynn would still be hitting .300. regardless of how the defenses played. Even Mr. Ted Williams appreciated that! Since WHEN did hitting at the major league level stop being about adjusting? . |
Shifts, angles, hard hit rate, so Boras says it`s tougher being a lefty when 70 % of the pitchers are right handed ? Not really following his train of thought here.

Amazing how all these negative effects for lefty hitters never hampered Harper until this year...

Pay no attention to that .211 BA behind the curtain!!

Why doesn't Harper and other players who face a shift learn to slap the ball the other way? It would be good for a single or double every time. It amazes me that hitters keep hitting the ball into the shift, where their batting averages have to be abysmal.
If you are a major league hitter, learn to capitalize on what the defense gives you. And if you can't hit the ball the other way, take more batting practice and learn. They pay you a gazillion dollars a year, so put in the extra time and develop the skill. |

I've never understood why big shifts never caught on before. There are so many dead pull hitters that it just makes sense. Suggesting they should be banned is just plain self-serving.

I know he's a big-time agent that can make his clients a lot of money, but I instantly judge any athlete for signing him as their agent. He is such a pompous scumbag.
