Love him or hate him, Lance (who I still regard as the greatest cyclist) was kind enough to sign these for me.

This makes two Nunamaker's for me now, this one on a 1930 Lincoln minor league team signed sheet. Also picked up some obscure signatures all out of a scrapbook that I show pics of in the July pick up thread on the memorabilia side. Dana X Bible, Christy Walsh, Roland Locke (Once the fastest man in the world), Johnny Goodman (1933 US Open winner, the last amateur to win the Open), 1933 Husker team signed sheet, and a three page letter from Joe Marty. This scrapbook once held a Knute Rockne signature but the original owner cut it out and sold it in a Heritage auction.

I hope I'm not too off-topic here since I didn't actually make a pickup. But I think this audience will appreciate the story.
My new landlord mentioned to me that he collected autographs. I went over last night and he pulled out a couple binders. Pretty much the entire 1968 Topps set minus maybe 20 cards, all in good shape and every single one was autographed. No Clemente and missing a few other tough ones, but WOW!--how incredible to flip through the pages and see these beautiful cards all signed--more than 500 in all. I referred him here in case he ever wants to work on the cards he's still missing. Jason |

I was pretty excited to find these 1946 Red Sox signatures on the cheap over the weekend. They all died between 1969-1977. Now I’m debating going for the whole 1946 set...

Mail Day! Any Joe Wood experts out there?

A month or two ago, I picked up this little Johnny Pesky card that it appeared that he filled out in his own hand. Later, in another thread somewhere around here, I found out it is called a Heilbroner card, and he really did fill it out.
So, last week, I happened to see another one. Then looking closely, I realized it was the previous one to mine! And it has a post mark on it from 1940, so I think it is a very early Pesky signature(?). Anyway, even though I am a Yankees fan, I have always liked Pesky, and have a game worn jersey and bat that he used, so I thought these were pretty cool additions. He must have been adding them or something, because when I refreshed, new ones appeared. Then I saw the Smoky Joe Wood. He is on my bucket list, so I couldn't resist. I am no expert, but I think maybe that is his signature? I figure someone here can tell me. |
