T206 Ritchey Variation
1 Attachment(s)
I bought a T206 Clyde Ritchey not realizing I already had one. I put them side-by-side to see which I wanted to sell and realized a stark difference between the two, one a P150, one a P350 (consistent with the limited sample on Ebay). It looks like the 150 series has a light blue sky with a pale, pink/purple strip in the horizon, whereas the 350 series has a deep blue sky with an "E" shaped cloud between Ritchey's head and bat. Am I imagining things or is this a pattern?

looks like you'll have to keep both! i used to pick up the "dove" variation on the rt whenever I saw them...it's not uncommon.

Hmm...
Maybe I'm late to the party, but is the "dove" version (which I recall hearing about) only found in the 350 series?

Yeah a number of 150-350 series poses were printed with very dark ink with P350 and Old Mill backs. The vast majority of the dark ink cards feature poses which were printed with SC 150/649 backs. There's a pattern in there somewhere. I wrote a 4-part series about it on my site about a year ago.
Here are a couple dark ink Old Mills and a lighter one I've owned. |
Hey guys
We had this discussion regarding Ritchey and the Doves back in 2006. Check-out this thread..... http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...t=epdg&page=25 The "Dove effect" basically boils down to the fact that ALC's 350 press runs used a darker shade of blue ink than their 150 press runs.
