Fun Schaeffer image! It looks like he is pointing his thumb back and saying "Look at that bum over there!"
Thanks to RMY for my first Spahn image - the clarity on this one is outstanding and makes this Milwaukee boy very happy. |

Picked up two Max West Items yesterday. First, a little back story. Max grew up in my home town of Alhambra California, and we both graduated from Alhambra High...ok, ok, he gratduated about 44 years before me. LOL
Anyway, after he retired he opened up a little sporting goods store called Max West's (Ralph Kiner was a co-owner until Max bought him out), which was pretty much the only place to go if you needed sporting goods back in the 60's through mid 70's. Max was almost always there (along with his daughter) and was always willing to give an opinion on what type/weight bat and gloves to buy. I learned a lot from him at an early age, and I've been wanting to collected some things about him for quite a long time. With that in mind, I was quite pleased to find a type 1 photo of Max that was used for his 1941 Double Play card. At the same time, I came across his original Heilbroner questionnaire card from 1936. I thought the cool thing about that was his listing of his Alhambra address and his High School. Thought this would make a nice shelf display along with a 1940 All Star game ticket (will get that later) in which he hit the game winning homerun off of Red Ruffing. So, all and all, a good collecting day. Now, if I can only get Alhambra Grad Cheryl Tiegs to return my calls. LOL |
love stories like yours mike!!!!!

Steve Blass' copies of his 1960, 1971 and 1972 Pirates contracts. I am terribly pleased to add these to my myopic collection. The 1960 contract is his first pro contract.

Buster Posey game used bat. Photo matched. I don't get a lot of modern bats but I figure Buster may make it to the Hall. ROY, MVP, batting title, 3x World Series champ, World Baseball Classic champ, Comeback Player of the year. This is a 2012 bat...batting title, MVP, World Series.

For my Expos collection , first ever official 12x18 1969 Montreal Expos picture in its original frame and box.

Here in Mormon dominated Utah, many homes are built with a "fruit room" aka cold food storage room. I think the Mormons believe you need to have a year's worth of food on hand to prepare for the coming Apocalypse (I could be a little fuzzy on the reasoning). Anyway, our "fruit room" makes a decent place for my overflow. What do I keep in there in addition to memorabilia? Hint: it ain't food! :p |

Great additions. I do think Rob's "fruit room" is fantastic. Technically, he does have wine in there, so the Fruit Room moniker fits :D
