All the Cubs
I collect the all-time greatest, as defined by me, Chicago Cubs! I've been at it for years but there are still some holes. If it's bold that means I either need the card still or I'm looking for an upgrade.
Feel free to post your favorite Cubs cards on here, your recent pick-ups, or whatever Cubbie awesomeness you're got laying around. Ken Hubbs?
What about Ken Hubbs?
|
Felix Pie?
...just kidding. Great stuff! |

How about Lou Brock?
|
Where's Tuffy Rhodes?

I didn't feel the same for Pie and Tuffy. |

I have a nice PSA 5 Jake Pfeister (Pfiester) throwing (Clean Piedmont 350-460 Fac. 25 back). Let me know if you're interested.

B/s/t
BTW...…….I think this probably should be moved to the B/S/T section.

Just curious that you have Kyle Hendricks listed, but not Javy Baez...or Kyle Schwarber for that matter

Great Cub collection! Is that Harry Carey on the Michael Jordan card? And why Jackie Robinson? Is it because the Cubs retired his number? :)
PS- And where is that Taylor Grignon? |

Re: the Jack Taylor, not all the cards are in the display cases. That one's a post card so it takes up more room. I'll post a pic of it tonight. |

New pickup. Tom Burns, #40 on the all-time list. He and Ned Williamson (#35) owned the left side of the Chicago infield during the 1880s.

Those pics are absolutely awesome, until I saw Joe Maddon's ugly mug.
I hate that fucker. |
Harry Caray
As for Harry Caray, I am partial to the 1988 Peoria Chiefs issue that actually has his name on it. Plus, on the reverse it mentions his Holy Cow and his love for Budweiser.

Great collection!:
I would add a Theo Epstein card just for completion. |
Wow, who would have ever thought that a man could put together a list of 100 greatest Cubs? I thought you'd go dry after Santo. ;)
Seriously though, great idea and a super nice collection. |

New pickup! Wasn't sure I'd ever find one of these. Kyle Hendricks, 99th greatest Cub of all time.

New pickup! Billy Jurges, 72nd greatest Cub of all time.

Hey Shankweather,
How about the greatness of Don Young or Al Distaso or Rich Nye. That could be a cool collection 😎 |

Superb photo on that one. Good luck in the hunt.

Nice variety in the mail today. Larry French/Vance Page, and Jake Arrieta; 48, 360, and 70 on the all time list. That Double Play card was the first in the set, so it's hard to find in nice condition. And that Pie Face short print has been a bear to find.

Jimmy Ryan, #23 on the list, and still the greatest center fielder the Cubs have ever had. This is one of my favorite cards, upgraded to an SGC 5 this week.

Welcome to the top 100-ish Jon Lester, the 102nd greatest Cub ever.

Complements On----
--- Your outstanding Leaf Phil Cavaretta !! That is a beauty. I have not seen one that nice before. The '33 Goudey Guy Bush is my personal favorite Baseball card. I'm concerned that the appears to be no love for Wausau Wi. hometown hero Johnny Schmitz and his Cubs years. An outstanding gentleman and life long Cub as he would tell anyone who knocked on his door !! Overall what a great focused collection.

This is awesome, thanks for posting! If it were my collection, I'd probably drop a T206 of someone and add a T204 just to get one of those in there. I'd also probably swap the T201 Hoffman for a E95.

Yu Darvish is still holding steady as the 1,420th greatest Cub ever.

New cards! The lovely postcard (addressed on the back to Miss Edna Jacobson, thanks for hanging on to it ma'am) features players 12, 81, 88, 48, 26, 37, 993, 38, 65, 160, 11, 50, 205, 33, 64, 1172, 19, 68, and 16 from the top 100-ish Cubs. The fella in the bowler is C.G. Williams, team secretary and treasurer.
The E95 is Solly Hofman, #88 (again). http://i1057.photobucket.com/albums/...psioomaard.jpg |
Hey Stephen, regarding that postcard: what's wrong with Frank Chance's face?

Actually it's just a post office stamp, you can see the top of it above his head. |
Okay, now I see it.

Some Cubbie loot from the HA auction last night! Players 31, 80, 58, and 22. I never thought I'd get a Cracker Jack Alexander graded as high as 5. Of course I could afford it only because it's misgraded and is actually more like a 4, and everyone knew it. But hey that label says 5! And that Pfeffer shows him in a Louisville jersey, my hometown, so that's fun.
I really wanted that Mayo's Cut Plug Dahlen graded SGC 6, but I couldn't swing that one and the Grover. $3840 is quite a ransom for that Dahlen, but it sure is pretty. Now to sell some cards so I can pay off my credit card! http://i1057.photobucket.com/albums/...s1mijtymk.jpeg |
That is a great Alexander. :)
OT- I just watched LaStella and Caratini pitch for the Cubs today. I hope that this is the low point of the season for the Cubs. |
